Privacy Policy

ShipChat Play is the account and lobby behind the games in the Marketplace. It is a hobby project on a home server, not a company. This page covers it and every game it serves.

Playing without an account

Browsing the Marketplace, opening a game in your browser, installing one, and playing on your own need no sign-in and store nothing about you. That is most of what is here.

What's stored when you sign in

Signing in is only needed for online play, and only ever used to tell players apart — so a match is between real people instead of throwaway names. You can sign in with Google or with Facebook; either way, all that is asked for is the public profile, nothing is ever posted to your account, and nothing is read from it beyond what is listed here. What is kept:

Google and Facebook sign-ins are separate accounts here — they are never joined up by email or by name, so signing in with the other one gives you a fresh account rather than access to the first. It is stored once, here, and not by each game: a game is handed a short-lived token for one match and never sees your identity. Who is online and which rooms exist are not stored at all — they live in memory and are gone the moment you disconnect.

Suggestions

If you suggest a game or comment on a suggestion, the name and text you typed are stored and shown publicly on that page. Use any name you like there — it is not connected to your account.

What isn't collected

No ads, no analytics, no tracking cookies, no profiling, and nothing is ever sold or shared with anyone. Nothing is used for any purpose beyond making the feature you are using work. Chat in the lobby is passed between players and not logged.

Deleting your data

Delete all of it yourself, whenever you like, from the Delete Your Data page or from the account screen of the ShipChat Play app on your phone or watch. It is immediate and complete — no copy is kept, and there is nothing to request from anyone.
